Fábio M. F. Lobato

I am a Senior Lecturer at the Institute of Mathematics and Computer Sciences (ICMC), University of São Paulo (USP), Brazil. Previously, I was a Senior Lecturer at the Engineering and Geoscience Institute, Federal University of Western Pará (UFOPA) (2014–2026), and served as an Associate Lecturer at the State University of Maranhão (UEMA), Brazil. I have the privilege of actively collaborating with Prof. Dr. Rainer Alt and Dr. Olaf Reinhold from Universität Leipzig and the Social CRM Research Center (SCRC); Profa. Dra. Solange Rezende and Dr. Ricardo Marcacini from the University of São Paulo; and Dr. Roberto Santana from Universidad Del País Vasco.

I have expertise in Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, and Decision Support Systems, focusing on machine learning, predictive analytics, and statistical modeling. My skills include applied research, technological development, and innovation, encompassing the design and implementation of intelligent systems, Natural Language Processing (NLP), Large Language Models (LLMs), and knowledge-based systems. I have experience developing scalable AI architectures, fine-tuning transformer-based models, and integrating AI solutions into real-world applications.

I excel in analytical thinking, complex problem-solving, and strategic decision-making, leveraging data-driven insights to optimize AI-driven solutions. My ability to collaborate across interdisciplinary teams ensures effective knowledge transfer and fosters innovation. Additionally, I have strong communication skills, allowing me to translate complex technical concepts into actionable insights for researchers, industry professionals, and policymakers.

I lead the Applied Computing Study and Research Group (GREP.ComPA-UFOPA) and founded the Applied Computing Laboratory (LACA). I held visiting and postdoctoral researcher positions at the University of Kent, UK, and Universidad Del País Vasco, Spain. Additionally, I served as an AI Specialist and MCTI consultant for the G20 Digital Economy Working Group in partnership with UNESCO, as an Associate Editor for Electronic Markets, and as a Research & Technological Innovation Project Coordinator at UFOPA. I coordinate and participate in R&D projects funded by the Brazilian National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq), Amazônia Research Foundation (FAPESPA), and Financier of Studies and Projects (FINEP), driving innovation at the intersection of AI, social media, and business intelligence.
